Mount Kosciuszko - Success!

Good day, Everyone!

I have successfully climbed Mount Kosciuszko - the highest mountain in Australia, on 1 April 2006! This is number 6 of the 7 Summits - and now, only one more to go - Mount Everest, in April 2007!

My climbing partner for the day, Andre Dupuis, and I left early to begin the hike. We drove to the trailhead at Charlottes Pass, where it was overcast and a bit chilly. The wind was very strong, and it seemed to gain strength as we made our way up to the summit. It was a very nice hike to the top, where we snapped some photos, and then quickly made our way back down to the trailhead. It was a summit that was very different from the other Seven Summit mountains, as there were no ropes involved, no altitude to contend with, and only a couple hours of work - but it was exhilarating all the same. To stand on the highest point anywhere, is always an exciting moment, whether it be in some strange land, or in your own backyard! Woohoo!

I now look forward to the challenges ahead, with respect to making the attempt to climb Mount Everest a reality. Please stay tuned, as I continue to update you on my progress toward making it to the "Top of the World"!
